Married, with two sons and two daughters, I have been living in the Winshill/Stapenhill areas of Burton on Trent since 1982, having moved here with my job at British Rail Engineering and later with ABB (Transportation) Ltd.

A Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, I specialised in Computerised Human Resource and Payroll Systems. After being made redundant I became an International Software Consultant for a software company implementing and training clients on HR and Payroll systems in UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa.

As a Parish Councillor, I am now looking forward to serving the residents of Brizlincote in any way I am able.

I moved to Brizlincote, from Nottingham, in 1998 and have lived in the same house with my wife since we arrived. When I was in employment, I spent nearly all my working life in the Transport Industry. The company I worked for built a multi million pound depot on Fradley Park Industrial Estate and I had had a major role to play in getting it built. I was a Senior Manager there with responsibility for Customer Service, National Purchasing and both property and vehicle maintenance and scheduling. It was a demanding, varied and busy role and I worked some long hours (17 on one day as I recall) but I very much enjoyed what I did and had great satisfaction from doing it. I am an Employee Nominated Trustee for the "Defined Benefits" pension scheme there.

I have been retired for a few years now and this has given me the time and opportunity to become more involved in local matters. I have an allotment in the Parish where I grow a few flowers (just for the bees really) but mainly vegetables. You cannot beat the flavour, freshness and taste of your own produce.

I have lived in the locality for over 40 years. We have a busy life enjoying time with our grandchildren, pets and friends. I have worked in industrial sales, sales management and business development for the majority of my working life and I am recently retired. My aim, where possible, is to assist in the preservation of the natural beauty and wildlife locally and to encourage pride in our area. I am also interested in helping to expand any facilities which may be of interest to both existing and future residents within the Parish.

Originally from Manchester I worked for Bradford & Bingley for over 25 years followed by eleven years with the Department of Work & Pensions; I has been active in voluntary organisations for over forty years.

I joined Brizlincote Parish Council in December 2012, rapidly becoming more involved with Speedwatch, setting up community litter picks and liaising with ESBC over issues within the green and open spaces, such as getting extra litter bins, handrails installed and footpaths resurfaced.

I am concerned about: wilful littering, dog mess not being picked up, keeping footpaths clear & open, and encouraging residents of Brizlincote to pick up litter, even if not their own. I am a great believer in the Speedwatch campaign as speed limits in built up areas save lives.

He would like to see members of our Brizlincote community have a greater sense of awareness of others and how their actions impact on people, such as not parking in front of drive ways; encourage children not to drop litter; not to drop cigarette butts; be respectful.

In summary: Your environment with cleaner streets, usable footpaths, engendering a sense of community and personal responsibility.

I was born and brought up in a small cotton town just north of Manchester in Lancashire. After school, I went into the retail grocery trade, starting as a shop boy, eventually managing large supermarkets. From there, into a buying role managing a range of product groups with a total value over 82m.

In 1999, I had a complete change and was appointed Fundraising and Marketing manager for a charity dealing with sight loss in Derby. I retired from this in 2006 and then I was asked to run a help desk in the Eye Clinic in Burton hospital which I did until funding for this important activity was withdrawn.

Over the years my interests my interests have included mountaineering, fencing and brass banding - having played with the Rolls-Royce Derby band for over 35 years.

Due to failing sight over the years, I am now registered as 'Severely Sight Impaired' and have recently been in training for a guide dog which I now have. His name is Woody and he is extremely clever, far clever than me.

In my role as Parish Councillor my main interests will be Disability Rights, Problems with access for disabled people and any other way I can help with the Parish.

If you see Woody and myself about the Parish please stop for a chat, I shall enjoy meeting you.

I was born in Burton on Trent and apart from 14 years at College and working away, I have lived in Burton or Swadlincote all my life. After achieving a degree in Food Technology at Reading University I worked for Unigate, firstly in development and later as a Company Laboratory Manager. Following company reorganisation and subsequent redundancy, I chose to change career, and I owned and ran a Pet Supplies and Garden shop in Swadlincote for 22 years. After retirement I have helped with Charity work, and I am currently working at the Burton Soup Kitchen.
As I am keenly interested in the local area, I hope to use the skills gained in my work and business life to the advantage of the Brizlincote area.

Originally from Burton, I travelled around whilst young and finally settled in Stapenhill eleven years ago after doing my Textiles degree.

My two children were born and raised here and I like to get involved with things in our local community that have a direct affect on our children.

I am a volunteer for three local charities (school PTA, Scouts and SSAFA).

I hope that by joining the Parish Council I will help provide a voice for local families on the things that are important to them.

Born in Burton Upon Trent, I moved to Brizlincote 20 years ago. I have always enjoyed getting involved in my surroundings and when an opportunity came to join the Parish Council I decided to take it. I am retired, I joined Burton U3A and my hobbies include walking, photography and crafts. I am an active member of the Brizlincote WI and hope to get them involved in as many projects as I can.

I have lived in Brizlincote for thirty years, although there are some intervals where I have lived and worked overseas, also in different parts of the UK due to working for several multi-nationals. At present I run my own business in the hospitality industry and strategic management consultancy. As a member of the Parish Council I am interested in pursuing your concerns.
